Jlr. W. Nicholson, Town. Clerk, Lower Hutt, has just received a letter from liis 6on,.Donald H. Nicholson, who is serving with the mounted forces in Egypt. In the course of the letter he states that the previous day the heat had registered 117:'- in the shade, during which the men carried out the usual evolutions in the desert. Mr. Nicholson is enjoying the ]jest ol health.. On 'severing his connection with the staff of Mr. George Winder, Mr. W. Wills was given a parting souvenir by his fellow-employees. ' Before the Victoria College Council dispersed last evening, Dr. Prendergast Knight alluded to the death of the -late Rov. Dr. AVatters, "who was unfortunate enough, to have been murdered in the recent Irish 'rebellion in Dublin." Dr. Knight stated that'the late Dr. AVatters was his predecessor ou the Council, and one of its original members, and ha moved a motion of condolence with his relatives. Mr. R. M'Callum, who seconded the motion, stated that he knew the deceased gentleman intimately, and held him in'the highest estimation. It was decided that the resolution, which was passed standing, be forwarded to Archbishop Redwood, who would doubtless sea that it was sent on to the proper people in Ireland.
