ANOTHER LAND SHAKES ART UNION. i At the meeting of the AVellington Patriotic Society on Monday evening (Mr. T. M. AViiford, M.P., in the chair) it .was' | reported that the "Anzac" dinner to returned soldiers had cost £52 Bs. A resolution of• thanks to the donors of goods for the dinner and "cash donations was carried, and a resolution -was also carried thanking Mr. E. T. Doddrell for hia tasteful decoration of the Town Hall. After some discussion it was decided, subject to arrangements as to finance, that a set of Hawke's "Excelsior" brass instruments be purchased for the society's band. The Twelfth Reinforcements wrote, through Coloiiel Cummings, asking the society, to assist iu defraying the cost of the balance owing on the instruments of the Reinforcements' band, amounting to Mil Us. 6d. It was resolved to refer the matter to the War Relief Association. It was decided to pay over the proceeds ■ of the Maraetai land shares art union to the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken and Mr. J. P. Luke, trustees of the Patriotls Society, for its Wounded Soldiers* and Sailors Fund. i : ■ • . The society also decided to proceed with an art union for the disposal of a further lot of shares in the Maraetai Land Company, generously donated by Mr. A. T. Bate, of Wellington. : The chairman (Mr. Wilford), secretary (Mr. J. Lewis) and Messrs. E. J. Collejr and James M'lntosh were appointed delegates to meet the delegates appointed bj: the War Relief Association to discuss th«> subject of amalgamation.
