Mr. Geo. Palmer, au old resident of the Mnnawatu district, died at Bumiythorpe on Saturday, in his Slst year. Mr. Pali mer served in Her Majesty's Royal Lancers in the Crimean War and the Indian Mutiuv. He was a prominent member sf the" Veterans' Association.
A Press" Association telegram from Hokitika records the death of Mr. Peter Walker; a very old resident, aged 76 years. He was formerly captain of the iire brigade, and was u gold-star holder. Mr. Larkin, formerly a well-known contractor, died iu Auckland on Sunday night. " Jtfessrs. H. J. Lnrkin, stationmaster of Otaki, and W. P. Lai'kin, manager for Messrs. Skarland and Co., v.re sons of deceased.
Mr H. Grinsfead, evangelist of the Church of Christ ii> the Hutt Circuit, has accepted an invitation to take over the work in the Palmerston North Circuit and will . commence his labours there on the first Sunday in June. Mr, Grinstcad will be succeeded by Mr. Percy Bolton, from Nelson.
