FINANCIAL MATTBBS DISCUSSED. ■ By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, May ID. The Anglican General Synod dealt witha number of matters regarding church government, .mainly financial matters, and a Pensions Fund for tho new diocese of Tarauaki was passed. Bishop Averill said that in live years, owing to the growth of Tarauaki, a now diocese would bo necessary. WOMEN'S FRANCHISE BILL KEJECTED. Christchurch, May 15. A bill granting the franchise to women to vote at parish meeting's came before the General Synod to-night, but was rejected, as the outcome of a slip by the Primate. When tho division was taken, Archdeacon Cowio was improperly excluded, tho doors boing closed too early. Tlio voting was:-—Bishops, ayes 5, noes 2; clergy, ayes' S, noes 8, laity, ayes 9, noes G. A majority of each order is necessary to carry' a motiou. Later on tho Primato admitted his mistake and said if Archdeacon Cowio pressed his vote ho would have to allow, it. Archdeacon Cowie did I not press the matter, and the former voting stood.
