RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the Returned Soldiers' Association was held at the club rooms, Lumbton Quay, on Friday. Thcro were present:' Captain Simson, in the chair, ,and twenty-nine (representative) returned discharged soldiers. The chairman, as convener, explained the reasons-for calling the meeting. Tho club already in existence had been founded and carried on by him with the assistance of a few patriotic citizens. The time had now come for expansion. Tho general secretary of the New Zealand' Association then read tho report of tho conference of delegates held, ill April, and tho constitution of the ' association. The chairman prooosed: "That a Wellington Returned .. Soldiers' Association bo formed to bo a blanch of the New Zealand ■Returned Soldiers' Association." This was seconded by Mr. Hellyer and carried unanimously. The rules 'were then submitted in detail, and after somo' discussion were adopted in toto.
The following Provisional Committee was elected to carry on the business of the association lor tlireo months:—Chairman: Captain Simson; vice-chairman, Major M'lvillop; members, Messrs. Broad, Harper, Cook, Ward, Meyer, Mansfield, and Loftus; acting-secretary and treasurer, Mr. 0. W. Batten. . The meeting concluded with a hearty vote of thanks to Captain Simson for his work in founding the club,'and generally in furthering the welfare of Wellington Returned soldiers.
