,—" —. •. . ■ —"• J DEATH OF LOUISA. WHITE. Louisa White, 27. years of age, the victim, of the Nairn Street tragedy, died in the Wellington Hospital at 5.40 a.m..yes-, teiday. Eevolver shots were heard in Nairn Street Reserve on the night of March 27, about 10 o'clock, and, following these, the sound >of female screams. Investigation by some residents of the neighbourhood revealed a, tragedy, and doctor; ambulancej and police were summoned. Sergt. E. W. Scott and Constable - Barnes proceeded to the Ecserve, and on arrival found that .a young man and a young woman—both suffering from bullet wounds—were. being attended to ,by Dr. Clay, near the hollow at the south-east corner,. . •'.
The man, who was unconscious, proved to be Ernest Dovoin, 26 years of age, a native'of Australia, but recently in business as a' hairdresser' Foxton'. The young woman was Louisa White, 27 years of age, machinist, of 3 Devon Street. Sub-, seqnently Devoin recovered and he has appeared at the present sittings of the Supreme Court, charged with attempted murder. On account of the low state of Miss White's health, however, the case was adjourned till next sittings.
