New Zealander, who recently arrived here, has been charged with attempting to shoot a police sergeant. The evidence showed that the police received information .that, two Chinamen's huts had been burbled and ,£2O stolen. The police proceeded to Ia: Pei'ouse ahd "met accused/, who was cycling. When slopped ho produced n . revolver and aimed point blank, but fortunately the chamber contained -blankcartridge.- The'other chambers were fully loaded. He was remanded.
