COMPANY'S VIEW OF THE CASE,
- A statement on the alleged shortage of, 6ugar was made to the House of liepreeentatives yesterday by the Et. Hon. W. •i. Massey, Prima Minister. Mr- said he had-been deluged, with correspondence on the subject during the last few days, and'he had asked. . the Board of Trade to communicate with, the manager of the Colonial Sugar Comply ' and. the. board . had., reoeived the following telegram:— 1 . • "We are melting , full. capacity—l2oo tons weekly. Produce is going into con-: . sumption; as: fast-as - steamers:-, available' can load; 850 tons iivore shipped south last week, leaving 265. tons in stock at Chelsea, and-.750 tons on order, for im-, mediate, execution. -Our records areopen to your inspection. '.'The. shortage complained of JS clue to storekeepers' extravagant.deliveries to consumere. Weekly Dominion consumption is estimated at below 160 tons 1 daily.- Our output -is 200' : tons daily, or 20 per. cent, above' Domin- : ion's , normal requirements." '
