ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
SCHOOLS GAMES DISCUSSED'. ' Mr. A. E. Wells presided at a meeting of. the Management Committee of the Wellington Football Association last evening. The following were also present:— Messrs. W. Auld, T. Thompson, P.O'Driscoll, arid A. Williams (secretary). Several headmasters and assistants at various primary schools in Wellington attended at the request of tho committee tor' the purpose of discussing the question of schools football. Prior to the 'present season thoro has been a difficulty in obtaining sufficient masters to take charge of the boys on Friday afternoons. During the course of a general disenssion various speakers held the opinion that that difficulty .could easily ,bo overcome by ono master being placed in charge of the boys from his own school eb well as those of thte school it is playing. The age question, was fully discussed and the suggestion was made that it should be eliminated and that nil hoys attending primary schools up to the sixth standard should be eligible to play. A district scheme was also proposed, and it was favourably commented upon by members of the committee. Each school will he' given a football free and endeavours will be made to centralise the various school games as. much ??.,I > . OS3 .' b ' e - The association ground at kilbiruie will be given freo to schools, in and about that district, for practice purposes. Mr. Wells thanked.the masters tor attending, and also for the valuable suggestions put forward. The committee will consider tho various proposals and communicate with the masters on the subject later.
