MASTERTON NOTES
At a meeting of the Wairarapa Pros- !. bytery on Tuesday reports concerning camp work wero received and approved. It-was decided; to draw the attention'of congregations to the question of Sabbath observance on July 2. A .comniictee was set up.to consider the question of church extension within the.bounds of tho Pres-n-uP'' A > lctter was received from Dr. bibb on the question of home mission work and;it was agreed to urge tho special claim of this department of church life, so that an increased revenue might be secured from the churches in tho Presbytery. ' The Masterton County Council has decided to defer for tho present the question ot the purchase of road-making machinery. . The Masterton schools have been closed lor the .past fortnight, owing to tie outbreak of. infantile' paralvsis. As no fresh cases of the'disease have been' reported during the past few days, it is expected that the schools will be reopened shortly. .
Operations at the Waingawa Freezing Works are easing off, sheep being slaughtered only on three days in the week. . the Masterton County Council has appointed a committee to attend\a conference in connection with the proposal to apportion the cost of renewing the bridge on the Rimutaka Hill between the local bodies concerned.
