In propusing the toast of honour ;\t a dinner which was given to the visiting delegates from the Duma, the Prime Minister, Mr. Asquith, said that the most gratifying result of the armed alliance was the complete Auglo-ltussian agreement on Eastern affairs. The enemy's efforts to weaken the Allies' confidenco in each other was only a clumsy and blundering attempt. The Germans lenew that if we were united we must conquer. ."In this knowledge," said the speaker, "we should stand together, however long and severe the test, until we have Lea ten to the ground the forces which havo heen withstanding us, and then begin in peace tn rebuild in coucr-rr the shaken fabric of European civilisation."
