Another three games in the Alcock billiard diner • tournament, were, played on Monday. De Latour (rec. 55) beat Watkins tree. 50); Magnus (ser.) • beat Longinore (rec. .20); Laws (rec. 50) beat Hempton. (rec. 75); and Necs won from M'lhtosh, by default. The games were fairly closely contested; and no 'victory proved an altogether easy one. Perhaps,the best exhibition of billiards in the evening was in the contest between Magnus and. Longmore, in which both'players showed-fine form. The latter • player s best break was 86, which was. immediately followed by a It from his opponent.

All the games ivero fairly 'closelv contested, the best breaks being: Sindall, 34, 26; Kell, 32, 31; Hemmingway, 22, 22. This finished the first round, all the'winners of which will contest in the A Group and the losers in B Group. No further games will be played this week, but the group, play will, commence on Monday next at Messrs. Alcock and Co.'s showrooms; which have been kindly lent for. the purpose. ' . "
