ATTITUDE OF HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
A letter from the .Prime-Minister regretting that' the Hutt County / Council had Jiot seen fit to fall in with vle Govi eminent Recruiting Board's scheme of gaining recruits'was read at theHnonthly meeting of the council held yesterd iay. The chairman (Mr. M. W. Welch) siid that a Recruiting Committee had formed in the Taita (his own district), aj«d every, thing was being done to forward, recruiting. It was the duty of every Councillor to do what he could- to assist th! s scheme. Councillor Howell hoped that ni embers of the council would, as citizens, do their utmost to see the scheme through. All that'was asked of the council "7.'as simply to organise the scheme. It was decided to write to the Prima Minister informing him. that the council was tal :ing active steps in connection with the w.atter. The inspector of works (Mr. J. W. Cudby) was appointed to canvass the smaller outlying districts. ■ ' .
