The following letter has been sent to tho Prim© Minister -by eight giocers of .Petone: — "We, tho undersigned grocers of Petone, wish to draw your attention to a very serious shortage in our supplies of sugar from tho Auckland Cor-yany. For the past two months imgar supplies havo been, as wo are prepared to prove (notwithstanding the extra demand for jam-making purposes), below the normal amount of our trado requirements. In> fact, we have been compelled to cut down our customars' orders for sugar to 61b. lots, and in. Borne cases havo supplied brown si gar for table. Ws are strongly of opinion' that supplies are heing kept Lack in' expectation of an increase after June HO. If not, then some of the Sugar Company's customers aro being favoured at our expense. _ Wo sincerely hope you will look into this matter promptly, and act, so that our customers ■ may be able to obtain their normal supplies. Should thero bo any doubt -is to the correctness of our contention, ve are prepared to submit amplo evidence thereof if you so desire."..
