In his report for tlie month ending April 29, tlie manager pf the Murray Oreek Gold Mining Company, Ltd., states:—Tho -winze below No. 3 level has been sunk 67ft., making a total distance of 97ft. The /width of the reef 'in the bottom is 3ft., "with no hanging-wall in 4 sight. A considerable amount of water is making in tho north end of tlie wiuze, indicating the existeuce of e, large body of ore iu this direction. The shaft has been sunk a further-69ft., making & total depth of 138 ft. from No. 3 level. There remains 7ft. still to sink to complete tho shaft, after which a start will bo made to open out the chamber pre- ; paratory to driving No. 4 level. The battery crushed 372 tons of quartz, producing 32907,. 2dwt. of melted gold/and 4loz. l&dwt. of bullion from cyanide treatment. Tta approximate value of the return is £1455. Most of tho quartz was taken from; tho intermediate level, tho stopes in which &rc up to 12ft. iu width.
THE HAUBAKI BEEFS, LTD. Tho mine manager of the Hauraki Reefs reports :-Stoping over No. 3 level was in hand during the past week. A fair quant'lty of gold was seen through the quartz saved for treatment.
