DEFENCE CHARGE FOR NECESSARY ARTICLES. The following scale, of prices charged at the Defence Stores for tlio necessary articles for dismounted officers' kits is given in District Orders. It is mado clear that the actual easii may he drawn, or the articles, as enumerated, can be requisitioned for 011 Defence Stores, Wellington, who will supply the articles in lieu of cash. The whole or any number of the articles can be obtained from the stores. Tho list is as follows: —Boots, ankle (two pairs), £3; braces (one pair), Is. Gd.; belt, waist, S.B. (one), £1 55.; Man- 1 kcts, single (three), £1 os.; badges, stars for greatcoat (three pairs), 35.; breeches, knicker (one pair), 17s. 6d.'; cup, forago (one), Gs. 6c1.; Cardigan jacket (0110), 10s. Gd.; field service pocket-book' (one), Is. 3d.; greatco_a(J (one), £2 10s. Gd.; hat and puggaree (one), 10s.; haversack (one), Is. 6d.; housewife (one), Gd.: jackets, service dress (two), £4 10s.; knife, clasp (one), Is. Gd.; mess-tin and cover (one), 4s. Gd.; putties (two .pairs), 125.; .shoos (one pair), 7s. 6d.; socks (three pairs), 4s. Gd.; towels (two), 2s. Gd.; trousers (one pair), 17s. 6d.; ties, khaki (two), 35.; trunk tin_ for baso (one), £1 155.; underclothing (two suits'), £1 45.; valise (one). £1 .los. ; whistle and cord (one). Is. Gd.; waterbottle and strap (one), 4s. Gd.; compass, magnetic (one), £1 2s. Gd. Total, £23 ISs. 3d. The mounted officer's kit is tho samo as above, plus leggings £1 Cs.,'and spurs 7s. Gil., and less puttees 12s. Gd.
