'•' A sensational incident occurred this morning at the Maori settlement on an island known as Awamarohi, in the Waikato Itiver, and as a result a Maori woman has been arrcstod on a charge of''attempting' to' murder a Maori, named. At daybreak she left the whare and proceeded to another dwelling, where she" obtained a shotgun. Upon her return. Enoka was still lying on. rugs on the floor of the whare, and .without warning she fired at him point blank. The rugs afforded some protection . against the pellets, but some pierced the covering and passed.right through his left thigh, caused a gaping wound, and : other wounds wore inflicted on the lower part of the body. . .'.' •'■."'■
