TRIAL OF RUA AT ROTORUA

Evidence in the Rua case this afternoon was mainly corroborative. SeniorSergeant Cassells stated that tho main body of the police were instructed to make sure tho Natives had no firearms, and Rua was Jo be their last consideration. They had no time to tell this plan of campaign to the Whakatane and Gisborne polico, so Sub-Inspector Johnston threw the match in the powder by grabbing Rua, and the trouble began, which they were anxious to avoid. . .
Rua was remanded to Tuesday, when his case will probably finish. The other prisoners wore remanded to Wednesday.
