* NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S Hit VATE OPINION OF THE STUD& BAKER. •
TiTe Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, knowing that we are closely interested in Studobaker motors, have forwarded to us. a copy of a lengthy business letter sent them by Mr. Allan E. M'Lean, the engineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating tho claims of. tho 1910 models of the great American automobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously given w permission to publish extracts from the letter and we extract the following paragraph as likely to interest owners and prospective owners of Studobaker catsl:"My bonest opinion about the Studebaker car is that it is the best value for money on the American market, and as far aa hnisS-. and workmanship are concerned it is second to noue. I consider that wo would be foolish'to take up the agency for any higher priced car that is built here, because if-we repaint the StudeDake'r and equip it with wire wheels Jt would bo equal to the Minerva in appear, ahce and quietness of running. The enginG is tho cleanest designed one that I iuivo inspected." It may be'explained that Mr. M'Lean's. mission to America was to -secure the agency of a high-priced American oar to .take tho place of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. There is a good market in Hawke'e Bay for tho very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest, opinion regarding tho Studebaker is that there is no American car on the market better, than the Studebaker at any price. Tho five-seatcr touring Studobaker (4-cylinder, 25 h.p.), with electric self-starter and electric lights, sells in New Zealand for £3&, the three-seater Studebaker, with c-ame equipment, being priced at £335.
