Fullerton-Smith, Miles, and Cook wrote asking that Mr. J. J. Correspondence, and Miscellaneous. It was resolved to fix the capital value of Section 24, Block VI, Hautapu, at £A nor acre, and that the improvements to be effected by the lessee should bo according to the board's resolution of April 5.

It was resolved to deterraino tho permit for Wlwikarato Tuwharotoa to occupy Crown lands Waimarino A Block, now

known as Section 23, Block XIII, Mangar.ui, as on May 31 next. It was resolved to fix tho term of lease of Sections 17 and 18, Block XVI, Huangarua, at 33 years, with rights of renewal for successive term of 33 years at rentals of i\ por cent, per annum on the capital value. .

'i'he Under-Secretary for Lands inquired if Section 17, Block XVI, Huaisgavua,

was capable of subdivision, and it was resolved that the section is not suitable for further .subdivision.

The Under-Secretary for Lands submitted an opinion of tho Crown Law Officers as to the dam erected by E. D. and

J. E. Ellis, on the Waiwetu Kivcr, at Epuni Hamlet, the presence of which was the subject of a complaint as to flooding of his land by one of the settlors of that hamlet. It was resolved to advise the tenants accordingly. Tho Under-Secretary for Lands submitted a suggestion that applications for land from recently married men of military age should be rejected if tho date of their marriage is subsequent to June 1,

1915, and it was resolved to act in accordance therewith.

In continuation of the Board's resolution of February 24, 1916, with regard to Seotiou 1, Block XIV, Eangitoto, 163 acres 1 rood, the Commissioner reported that lie had inspected this section, and it was resolved to retain it as one holding, and that the price be fixed at JBB per acre. '

With regard to representations made that the ft'or lb. Gorge Block should he cut up into smaller sections,' it w,as resolved that the land be inspected by the Board on May 2. It was resolved to determine Mr. Ewen M'Gregor's permit to occupy Crown lands in Otamakapua Block on May 12, 1916. • It was resolved to determine the tenancy of Mr. 11. Q. Dalzicll over portion of I'ouwhakarua Block 'on May '12, 1916.

. It was resolved to determine the tenancy of Mr. John Woolston over portion pi Pouwkakarua Block on May 12,..1910.

It was resolved to reoffcr Section 8, Block XXI, Ohataine township, 1 rood, on renewable lease at an. annual rent' of £2 10s.

It was resolved to retain for selection Section 7, Block IV, Wkirinaki S.D., 852 acres, under the Discharged' Soldiers Act, as second-class land, at a capital value of ,£1585, weighted with .£55 for improvements.

It was resolved to grant Mr. G. Parker a now license to occupy part Section.62, Block XIV, Ohinewaii'ua, 1 acre 32 perches, for a term of five years from July 1, 1916, under Section 130 of the Land Act,. 1908, at a rent of £5 per annum, subject to the conditions of the present license. . It was resolved to invite tenders for a lease for five years of part Sections 7, Block IX, Manganui, west of road, at an annual rent of lfls.

Applications were for 'Section 13, Block-11,/Hunua S.D., from Messrs. H. H. Itulc and Julius Barry, and it was resolved to retain the section for the present for the purpose for which it was setaside, viz., a timber reserve.

It was further resolved to grant permits to Messrs. John D. Kelly and Ernest Jurgeus to take such quantities of timber therefrom for fencing purposes as may be deemed reasonable by the Hanger. Cutting to bo subject to his supervision and to usual royalties.

Result of Ballot. The board examined applicants for sections in Block V and VI, Euahine, and the ballot was taken at 2.30 p.m. The drawing resulted as follows:— Section 7, Block V. 586 acres 2 roods 33 perches, Matthew H. R. Hammond, Taihape. Section 8, Block V, 766 acres, Frederick D. K. Hammond, Taihape. •*" Section 1, Block VI, 798 acres, James G. Cornfoot, Feildirijr. Section 2, Block VI, 1458 acres. V. P. Nettlefold, Mangaweka.

. Other Business. The board approved an application under Section 14 of the Land Laws Amendment Aot, 1912, in regard to Section 52, Block X, Hunua, 15 acres, O.R.P. J. L. V. Lareen. Annual rent, £Z 10s. . It was resolved to fix the capital values of Sections 22 and 23, Block XIII, Manganui, as under:—Section 22, 301 acres, .£2 15s. per acre; Section 23, 302 acres, £3 per acre. JP. C. Coldstream applied for Section 56, Block X, Hunua (116 acres a'pprox.) under tlie Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act,' 1915, and it was resolved to allot it to the applicant under Section i of the Act. It was resolved to deduot the arrears of reut, cost of reoffering, etc., amounting to .£l3 7s. 3d., from tho value received for improvements on Section 0, Block XVI, ltetaruke, aud to authorise payment of the balance £U 12s. Od. to the person entitled to receive it. < Mr. E. H. Coker renewed his application for a permit to graze two horses on Section 3, Block XXII, Ohakune Township,- and it was resolved to refuse the application, as the section will bo offered for sale in Juno next. It was resolved to grant Mrs. H. Merry a permit to occupy two acres of Crown land near Haurimu, aggregating 46 acres 2 roods, at a rent of ,£3 per annum; also to grant a permit to .Mrs. Woolston to occupy about 2 acres of Crown land north of Spiral, both permits to be from' year to year under Sectioii 130 of the Land Act, 1908, and to bo subject ,to usual conditions.
