MIRAMAR BOROUGH
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. A meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Mr. F. Towiiseud) presiding. Thq following wore also present:—Councillors S. M. Stone, S. H. Underwood. M. Traoy, W. H. Greenland H. Hawthorne. The Mayor and Councillors Underwood and Stone were appointed a committee to interview the City Engineer in regard to the now. electric agreement. A letter received from the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board stated that Miramar Borough Council's contribution for the year ending March 31, 1917, would be £052 4s. It was explained by the Town Clerk (Mr. Fox) that this was £89 more than the contribution for the preceding year. Each year since 1906 the contribution has been raised.
Councillors were of the opinion that it would'be better if the money could be expended on a hospital in the borough. It was mentioned that, considering the number of patients sent from the Miramar Borough, the council would be saving expense by having patients sent to a pnvato hospital.
