A. NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PRfc VATE OPINION OP THE STUDB BAKER. TITe Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, know< Ing that we are closely interested in Studobaker motors, have forwarded to ua a copy of a lengthy business letter sent them by Mr. Allah E. M'Lean, the gineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit, investigating the claims of the 1916 models of the great American auto, mobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. have very courteously given ua' permiusion to publish eitraots From the fetter, and we extract the following -paragraph as likely to interest owners an<i prospective owners of Studebaker cars-.— My honest opinion about the Studebakei car is that it is tho best value for monej on the American market, and as far el uniSh and workmanship are concerned fj is second to none. I consider that w< would bo foolish to take up the agenc/ for any higher priced car that is built here, because if. wo repaint the StudoDakor and equip it with wire wheels It would be equal to the Minerva in appear* ance and quietness of running. The en< nine is the cleanest designed one that I have inspected." It may be that Mr. M'Leau's mission to America was to secure the agency of a high-priced American car to tako the place of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. Thore is a good, market in Hawke'a Bay; for tho very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest Ojpinion regarding the Studebaker is that there is no American car on tho market better than the Studebaker at any price. Th< bve-seater touring Studebaker (4-cylindor, 25 h.p.), with electric self-starter and olccvriclights, sells in New Zealand for JC345, the three-seater Studobaker, with same equipment, being priced at JE335.
