The following motions wore adopted by the Sawmillers' Federation Conference : — "That the Government be urged to increase the duty on imported doors, sashes/ mouldings, all manufacturing' timber,' Oregon timber under 12 by 12, or its equivalent." "That the "Workers' . Compensation Act bo amended to provido for th'e paytnent of full wages during the wholo period of incapacity, and more liberal ■ benefits ,to injured workers slid dependants, and that the Government be requested to take full control of accident insurance and compel employers.to inKiire in tho State Office." "That the '•Government bo-urged to nationalise the flour-milling industry, and establish State bakeries."' ■ "That the Government be urged to extend planting waste lands with trees suitable for milling purpose's.'' "That tho chief inspectors of factories in the chief centres be given the right to institute proceedings for 1 reaches of awards without First consulting the k-vl office in Wellington."
