BIBLE CLASS UNION

ANNUAL CONVENTION.

The eleventh, annual Convention of the Young Women's Methodist Biblo Class Union was opened on Good Friday at Wesley Church, Taranaki Street. One hundred and fifty delegates answered the roll call. The Rev. J. G. Chapman (on behalf of the churches), Mrs. Boys (for Now Zealand Executive), and Miss Ward (for Wellington Union) well corned the' delegates, who Had coma from all parts of New Zealand. An ad< .dress,' entitled "Great Expectations," was given by Miss Abernethy, M.A., of tho Wellington Union. About 200 people sat down to lunch. During tho afternoon session, _ after, silent intercession for the soldiers at tho front, Mrs. Hutchin_ gave an account of her early experiences and life as a missionary's wife jn Barotonga. Mrs. Boys urged tho need of workers to fill the gaps in tho missionaries' ranks.

Sister Nellie (deaconess) gave her farewell account of work among the Maoris in Taranaki. As Sister Nellia is resigning from her Maori mission work, Mrs. Boys, on behalf of the New Zealand Union, presented her \vith a gold wristlet watch and a purse of sovereigns.

Tho Methodist soldiers from the camps'and tho Young Men's Union wcro entertained at tea, abotffc 300 sitting down. In- tho eveniiig Mrs. Boys and the Rev. Mr. Chapman conjointly presided over a large gathering. Tho service was entirely of an intercessory nature. On Saturday morning there was a further session of the conference, and in tho afternoon delegates to Seatoun for a ramble. In* the a patriotic concert was given "n Wesley Hall, the building being crowded. The proceeds from the concert will bo devoted to the chaplain's fund. An afternoon service was well attended at 3 o'clock yesterday, and in the evening at Wesley Church, tho Bev. J. G. Chapman conducted a special service in connection with the conven-. tion. ,
