A sum of over £6 was realised by tlio collection, taken up nt Newtown Park yesterday by the Zoological Socioty in aid of their animal fund. The Waterside Workers' Band p(ayed at the park during the 'afternoon. The Masterton School Committee lias expressed dissatisfaction at tlio Wel- . lington Education Board combining the usual May vacation with the Easter holidays. It is of opinion that the usual holidays should have been ob- ~ served. The outbreak of infantile paralysis has not, says our jUastortou correspondent, affected in the least the • s attendance at the local schools. Miss Una Carter will lecture on "Dinner and Cakes" at the Wellington Gas Company's demonstration room at 8 p.m. to-nwrrow. Then will, be 110 lecture oa Thursday evening this week
