'£That This' r executiye. viows with apprehensipn the" reduced 'price offered for fat cattle,.which, in our opinion; is due- to the restriction placed upon the (export of; hides of over 451b., also'that ,th© enormous loss entailed on the farming community is not justified by a pro-jportionate"-.saving to the Government inithe.cost of leather, it being evident ithat; the.embargo is entirely in the interests' of;'tanners, and dealers, who are gabled to •' exploit producers by offer-' sng'the producers as a maximum, the [minimum"; price fixed - by the Government.'] The meeting also resolved: "This(executive strougly urges the Govern-ment-'to commandeer its requirements at : the.-, market value, and require from [their contractors a reduction in the price of the articles under the contracts [equivalent• to any. saving in the jcps't of ; raw material caused by the commandeering, "'and allow freedom of export; for'any surplus."
