MASTERTON NOTES
An Ambulance Corps that was formed a year, or two back at the Waingawa Freezing Works, rendered useful service on Wednesday by administering first aid to those who sustained injuries by the' collapse of a 'wall. A considerable quantity of grain still remains in the stack in the Masterton district.
The young man, William Parsons, an ox-soldier, who was arrested in Masterton recently on a charge of abducting a girl oighteen years of age, from Waihi, has been sentenced to four months' imprisonment. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club flew a race from Tauniarunui on Thursday. The winning bird was Messrs. Drake Bros.' Try Again.
The Masterton Branch, of the Y.M.C.A. has an excess of assets over liabilities amounting to £1406 ss. The annual meeting of the Young Men's Christian Association was held on Thursday evening. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow:— President, Mr. C. E. Daniell; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. T. .F. Watson, D. E. Parton, E. G. Jones, Dr. N. H. Prior, J. De Castro, S. D. Pearce; hon. secretary, Mr. F. G. Franklin; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. Clemas; general secretary, Mr. S. G. Cresswell.
