WELLINGTON COLLEGE OLD BOYS

MEETING OF ASSOCIATION,

Tlie annual meeting of the Wellington College Old Boys' Association wa6 held at Bethune's Building last evening, Mr. W. E. Bethune presiding over a' good attendance.

The report was adopted. Fifty-three new members were elected.

The chairman drew attention to tie splendid response made by Old Boys generally to the call of Empire. He made special reference to the action of the Olcf Boys' Swimming Club, which, owing to practically all its members en-, listing, was forced to disband. At the first call the first fifteen had also donned the khaki to a man. He pleased to record fhe distinguished services to the Empire of Major B. C. Freyberg, D.5.0., Liout. T. M. Grace (killed in action), and Liout. A. de B; Brandon, and others.

Mr. J. P. Firth, in endorsing the remarks of the chairman, stated that there wore, on active service or in camp, some 918 Old Boys; 47 had been killed in action, and 64 had been wounded. Distinction had been gained by the following; Old Boys:—Major B. O. F-reyberg. D.8.0.: Signaller A. I. Caselherg, and Corporal F. J. H. Fear, D.C.M.; Captains E. F. W. MacKenzie and J. L. H. Turner, military cross; Captain J. L. Findlay, Legion of Honour; Lieut. T. M. Grace, Corporal B. Ronaldson, Liout. J. D. K. Strang, Lieut. W. H. Stainton, Major G. Powley, .Gunner J. llellaby, and Captain E. F. M. MacKcnuie (mentioned in dispatches), and Lieut. A. de B. Brandon.

The election-of officers resulted' as follows: —President, Mr. M. C. Barnett; lion, auditor, Mr.. W. H. Morrah; lion, breasurer, Mr. N. Isherwood; lion, secretary, Mr. W. W. Cook; committee, Mr. J. W. Ward (the College), Messrs. W. E. Bethune, E. Levy, F. M.Rennor, M. G. Gray, A. Ronaldson, W. H: Denton, and J. L. Palethorpe. The usual donation of £5 os. to the College Ground Fund/ £2j25." to t!he School Rifle Shooting Prize Fund, and £2 2s. to the Old Boys' Prize Fund, were passed. Mr. J. P. Firth expressed appreciation of the goodness of the association and the various clubs to the school. "The school," he said, "fully appreciated not only the money value of the donations but the feeling that prompted the generosity."
