HEMP & TOW GRADED

The following return, showing _ tho quantities of hemp, tor, and stripper slips graded at the ports of the Dominion during the month of March, has been compiled by the Department of •Agriculture":—','.

The total number of bales of hemp graded was .16,G22,- as compared with 9373 for the corresponding month of last'year, an increase' of 7249 bales; •jFor'.tbe twelve months' ending March 81, the -number of bales graded was 137,882,: as compared with 82,987 for 'the previous twelve months, ail increase of 54,895 bales.. . ; . : '

■, During, 7 the month, 4598 bales of tow :were dealt with, as compared with 2192 for tho corresponding - month of last year, ,ari'iiicreaso of 2406 bales. For ; the .twelve months; ending March 31,' 1916, the number, of;bales graded waa 88,898, as > compared .with ■-33,874.'• for .the previous twelve moiiths,: tin increase of 15,524 bales.
