'A" chance to win £1000 for 2s. 6d. is given by the Westland Art Union, in aid of tho fallen soldiers. The secretary of the West Coasters' Association, Mr. C. J. Pfaff, states that the art' union is to be drawn without fail at Hokitika on May 2, and all prizes will bo paid in full. The;; money derived from the art union' has been expended in parcels of tobacco, clothing, etc., for the men at the front, which parcels have been sent to them periodically. Up to the present, according to Mr. Pfaff, Westland has sent 20 per cent, of its entire population to the-front, or into Icamp, and an effort'is now being made to get a-. .further big batch away to camp, next week. . . r
