Red Cross workers in, Canterbury must have felt distressed wlien advice reached them 'from Lieut. rColonel M'Gavin, O.C. the New Zealand Stationary Hospital, that an entire shipment of Bed Cross goods, consisting of 32 cases from the Canterbury and VVestland Branch of the Red Cross had been destroyed by fire. As the shipment was. valued at nearly £1500, it was a considerable loss to the society. Or. Acland, writhis; also in the same connection, said "that there were in all IriO cases on the ship when a fireacourred in the hold after she had reached Salonika, and all our own eases (32) wore destroyed. Wo know nothing of the cause of the fire, and it is terribly disappointing to tis that so much'valuable material should be wasted and all your efforts come to nothing." <, Sleeping Suits for Ladies are the vogue this coming winter, and Herb.
