Lieut.-Colonel Cumming arrived ' at Cambridge, from Wellington, on Sunday, to inspect the 16th (Waikato) Regiment camp there, and returned the same night by the express. Mrs. Cum-ming,'-who accompanied the colonel, was (says the "New Zealand Herald") the recipient, at the officers' mess on Sunday, of a framed portrait of Colonel Cumming. The presentation was made by Captain Gilmer, who spoke of the high esteem in which Colonel Cumming was held by the whole regiment. At the same time, he congratulated the departing officer on- going to tho front.

Mr. H. H. Holmden, of Kelburn, has been advised by cablegram that his son, Lieutenant Trevor Holmden, has been slightly wounded. Lieutenant Holmden left Now Zealand with the Main Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces, and saw service on Gallipoli. for. five months. Later he received a commission in the Worcester Regiment.
