ANNUAL MEETING.

n Mr. Robert Darrooli presided at tho is! annual meeting _ of the Wellington branch of the 'Victoria League, held in 0 Jf'rkcaldia's tea-rooms last evening, •i J-'here was a good attendance of ladies, d and several apologies for absence were > received. <i Mrs. J. P. Luke, as treasurer, read ;! a finanoial statement for tho past year, t which showed a credit balance of £18 K 3s. 3d. out of ordinary annual subsoripn, tions only. She was very much obliged y to all who had paid up so readily our- ' ing March and April, and to all who s; had assisted her during the seven years s she had been treasurer of the league. 1 (Applause.) t' Miss Coates, as the controllor of the r Soldiers' Comtorts Fund of the league, r stated that with the balance brought forward from last year, the amount 1 subscribed for comforts had been £216 i' 6s. 7d. Of that amount £164 13s. , had been expended in comforts, leaving 1 a balance in the bank of £52 2s. 7d. In connection with the" Russian Prisoners' Relief Fund, the sum of £356 ss. lid. had been subscribed,, of which amount' £348 9s. 7d. had been remitted to the secretary in London. The difference had been spent in cables, etc. These accounts had been duly audited by Mr. 0. R. Smith.
