: LAND AUCTION SALE. Mr. S. George Nathan held an auction sale of city aiid suburban properties on luesday afternoon, in the Chamber of Commerce. The first property offered was a'section owned by the l'ukcweka Sawmills, Limited, situated off 'Luke's Lane, having a frontage of 56 links by a depth of 185 to 193 links, widening out to 70 links. Bidding started at ,£IOOO, and the section was knocked down to Mr. P. 0. Watts at .£1275. The second property was a 5-roomed_ cottage situated in Norfolk Avenue, Miramar, having afrontage of 40 feet by a depth of 120 feet, as the reserve was uot reached it was passed in. . Mr. Nathan then offered, in conjunction with Messrs. Longmore and Co., several properties in tho deceased estate of Stephen' Hart and J. D. Diniond. The first property was a modern 1-ro'omed cottage, situated in Ames Street, Paekakariki, on a section of 10 feet by 180 feet; this property was sold to Miss A. M'Jlalion for d£MOO. The nest was a three-roomed cottage in Karaka Bay, having a frontage of 38ft. 9in. by a depth of 166 ft. to 172 ft. Bidding started at i£2so, and it was passed in at J5275, the reserve having not been reached. A section in Taranaki Street having a frontage of 59ft. ' by a depth ot about 85ft., together with a stuclio and factory, 6roomed dwelling, shop and dwelling, and a 3-roomed cottage, was also offered. As the reserve, was not reached, this property was also passed in. A 7-roomed house, 01 Tasinan Street, was also to have been offered, but tho property was withdrawn as it had been sold privately for .t'B2s to -Ml-. Chegwin. The properties passed in are now open for private sole. Tho members of the Slato'Club of the village of Marden have been collecting the wrappers from -packets of tobacco for the lead contained, and have got nearly 2cwt.
