The following judgment summonses wore doalt with: Robert Jamiesbn was ordered to pay to the trustees of thtt Trinity Methodist Church the sum of £15 iOs. by montnly instalments of lis.; Percy Bathurst was ordered ta pay to Georgo M, ..A. Ahier the sum of £-! lis! Bd. on or before April 27, or undergo four days' imprisonment. DEFENDED ACTION. In the case' of , the Commercial Agency, Ltd., v. the Wellington Cabinet Coy., Ltd., a claim for £43 Os. 6d., judgment was given for plaintiffs for the amount paid into Court, £31 with costs £1 6s. Regarding the balance in dispute the defendants were al- ] lowed £4 "3s. costs. POLICE GASES. ALLEGED THEFT FROM STEAMER. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., dealt with tlie police cases. Two seafaring men, William Jensen and David Petterson, pleaded not guilty to a ehargo of stealing four bottles of whisky, valued at £1 65., from the steamer Waimea. The date of the alleged offence was March 30 last. Tho charge being an indictable one, both prisoners were committed to the Supremo Court for trial, bail being allowed in the" sum of £25 each and ono surety of £25. Mr, H. F. O'Leary appeared for Jensen, while Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared foi Potterson. DISORDERLY HOUSE. Richard James Webster and Mildred Bessie Webster were convicted of keep* ing a brothel in Clayton Avenue. A young woman, named Ethel Towner, was convicted of assisting in the management of the establishment. All three .were fined £10 and ordered to pay witnesses' expenses and Court, costs amounting to 17s. in every' case, the alternative being one month's imprisonment. Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared for. the AVebsters, the defendant' Towner being represented: by Mr. P. AV. ■Jackson. MAINTENANCE. Norman Phelps, who was in arrears with payments due under a maintenance, order, was sentenced to 17 days' imprisonment, the warrant 'to be suspended so long as weekly'payments of 40s. are forthcoming. Defendant was" also ordered' to pay the suni of £1 14s. towards the expenses connected with his appearance in Court. Herbert Edwards, for disobedience ol a maintenance order, was fined £5 and sentenced to twenty-two days' impris'onment. The' Magistrate directed that the warrant should be suspended if the defendant kept up future payments and paid a specified sum weekly in reduction of arrears. MISCELLANEOUS. For using obscene language, a married man named Edward. Bloomfield, was fined £5, in default to undergo a month's imprisonment. John Edward Belsham was convicted and ordered to come up for sentenca when called upon on a charge of theft of goods valued at ss. 9d'. It was made a condition of the sentence that tho defendant should refund the value of the goods to the owner. George Clark, on a charge of helpless drunkenness, was ordered to pay the sum of 17s. 6d.—-the expenses connected with his curative treatment in gaol, Three first-offending inebriates were convicted and treated _with leniency. JUVENILE COURT. In the Juvenile Court, a boy 16 years of age, was convicted of placing an obstruction on the railway lino at Pnekakariki on April 4. He was sentenced to> 12 strokes of tho birch. Two boys, aged Hand 13 years, were convicted of. theft of sums of money from the Thoriidon School. One of the lads was committed to tho Stoke Training Farm, and the other was sent to the Training Farm at AYereroa.
