THE POLAR MEDAL
PRESENTED TO MR. H. HAMILTON At a public function in the Dominion Museum 'yesterday, the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. G. W! Russell) presented to Mr. H. Hamilton, of the Museum staff, the King's Polar Medal (ill silver with clasp), awarded to him by His Majesty the King in recognition of his work with the Mawson Expedition. Mr. Russell referred in complimentary terms to Mr. Hamilton's work as one of the Macquarrie Island party of the expedition—an expedition which had had more important soientific results than any other that liqd gone into the Antarctic. The Minister wished Mr. Hamilton a long life and other successes in the realm of scientific research. Mr. Hamilton thanked the Minister for the honour dono him, saying that lie hoped to continue to deserve honour from his King and his country. •
