SWIMMING

The following is a list of boys taught to swim at the Thorndon Batbs this season by Mr. W. Lewis: —C. Worbojs, I. Wolch, J. Marsh. A. Ritchie, C. Callan S. Anderson, A. Jackson, A. Cudby, W. O'Brien, S. Emerson, A. Orange, J. Hendry, H. Meachen, J. Collins, H. White, B. Welch, W. Scanlon, D. Kelly, H. Wonnocott, H. Robieson, G. Miller, E. Scott, A. Ward, C. Kerr, J. Lanksbear, R. Camberford, R. Sharp, P. M'Auley, F. Williams, K: Futtor, R. Orange, W. Martin, H. Herrick, J. Clarke, M. Leonard, J. Barclay, A. James. The following are a few of the boys j taught at Te Aro Batlis:—G. Dutch, L. 'i'onks, and Flageltaup. A number of boys were taught at botli baths,'but tlieir names have not been ascertained. Seven men and fully one dozen women and girls were also taught this season at Thorndon Baths. The following boys' names have been handed to Mr. T. Shields for their proficiency certificates: —A Cudby, W. Cudby, N. Reid, D. Harley, I. Welch, J: Mash, and C. Wojboys. A. Cudby has put np some splflidid performances | in long-distance swimming. In less than three weeks after learning to swim he swam 600 yds., the following morning 750 yds., and the same evening 1000 yds. Three days afterwards he swam three-quarters of a mile. Valuable assistance was rendered Mr. Lewis By Scoutmaster F. E. Godfrey by safeguarding the boys until they were able to swim the distances by themselves. The pupils of Mr. Andrew Dickson, Lainbton Police Station, whose names were published yesterd'ay as having passed the Royal Life Saving Society's examination, wore examined by Mr. Perry. In publishing the names yesterday it was stated in error that (instead of being the examiner) Mr. Perry "was re-examined."
