NOTES AND COMMENTS TRENTHAM TRACK WORK. Yesterday the climatic conditions 'at Trentham irere a distinct improraieut on the three preceding mornings, and a good deal of interesting work was done. The tan track- was in most demand, but several horses were galloped on the grass trial, which was very fnst. ■ The best eiFort of the morning was accomplished by tho stable companions, Multiplication (R. .Reed) and Chortle (A. Heed), who got to the end of a half-mile on the grass in 48 l-osec. Multiplication was on the inside and had his neck in front at the finish. Both horses pulled up well, particularly Multiplication, who would not have blown out a candle. ..- On the tan Emperador (G. Clarke) ran seven furlongs alone in Imin. Slsec, a food gallop, and as the two-year-olds in the North Island Challenge Stakes are not a strong lot, E. J. Mason's chargo may bo selected favourite on the machine. Nones, on the grass, ran a very smart six furlongs in lmin. I6sec: The Martian filly looks in the pink of condition, but in ; some. quarters it is feared that her preparation has not been sufficient for a journey over 14 furlongs. Seadown gave Happiness a length start over the last half-mile of five furlongs on tho grass, and' failed to' catch the filly. Oxenhope (11/ M'Donald) ran a halfmile on tho tan in oOJsec. The Chokebore pair, Adjutant and Battle' Eve, got to the end of four furlongs on tho tan in 50sec. • Petruclvio -'(W. Bell) and: "Winterbourne took a second longer over the same distance. The former hung badly, and got on the clay, which will probably leave him shin-sore. . ' Wrestler, from the same, stable,- ran half a mile on tho grass. The Antagonist colt is a very smart mover. The Karamu team, consisting of Hydros; who looks well, Hyllus, Hylatus, Centre, and Hygia were out, .and did strong work. :/ - . '
T. P. Quinlivan worked Shrill, Eligible, Blackall, Spain, Sweet Corn, and Sasanof. The whole team look well, particularly the two'former.

The'same .trainer sent Struggle, and Miss Deval over half a. mile on the tan, .and they finished in that order,' but the latter was giving away a lot of weight. ■ Multiply, alone, ran six furlongs comfortably in Imin. 18Jsec.
