Lord Derby, .in a letter read at a meeting of attested married men'in the Albert Hall, said: "My duty is to endeavour to secure all available unmarried men in pursuance of Mr. Asquith's pledge. This question is distinct from universal service, which I support, but which the House of Commons must decide." v
