He will visit Featherston, ; Martinborough, Carterton, and Greytowu, and lie will also-address a public jneeting at Masterton.

The result of an election to fill the vacancy in the Council of Education caused by the resignation of Mr. John. ~ Caughley, consequent upon liis appointment to be Assistant Director of Education, was announced yesterdaj'. Mr. Caughley, who previously sat as the member representing the male teachers of the South Islandi becomes, by virtue of his new appointment, an ex-officio member of tho council. The election has resulted in the return of Mr.. Thomas G. Foster, principal of tho Training College in Christclmrch, who ' polled 227 votes. The number of votes seemed by the other candidates was: Mr. Walter Eudey (Otago) 146; Mr. Horace It. Fisher (Marlborough), 26. Tin; total number of votes recorded waß 410, eleven of which were informal.
