PETONE FIRE BOARD
The Petone Fire Board met on AVednesday, the Mayor being in the chair. ■The, Minister of Internal Affairs agreed to tlie board arranging for an overdraft of .-£2OO towards the cost of a now fire motor. The Superintendent was instructed to report to the Petone Borough Council any eases of overcrowding at the various theatres. One theatre had offended 'twice in January, but the proprietor stated this was not so, and further promised to have the by-laws carried out strictly. ' - It was reported that the Petone Woollen Mills bad been connected up with the Petone firo station. This makes a total of three "privato connection*. Tlie Superintendent, stated ho frequently was on duty 21 hours out of 24; and tho board is asking the local committee to arrange for tho Superintendent to have more freedom from the premises. Three fires took place during the last quarter, with one fatality, this being the first case in Petona. _ I
