: Great scientific interest attaches to tho discovery of the Simpson light with which experimental work has boon carried on at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London. Mr.. Simpson was making a research into tho affinities of rare metals, and found that the electrical combustion of certain ores produced a light which had curative effects. He then produced an arc lamp with these ores as its electrodes. A report' in the '"Lancet" states that it is believed that the new light may bo useful in diseases of tho throat and nose.
