' Owing to her late arrival from south today, the Tarawcra was unable to leave for the north last evening as was expected. She is listed to sail at noon to-day. . ITALIAN SHIPPING ENTERPRISE. A notable epoch in the advance of the Italian 6teamship interests has been marked by the successful launching of the Duilio, of the Nasiguzions Generate Iteliono, slates the "Shipping List." This vessel, which will shortly be placed on the tervice, is one of the largest and most luxuriously appointed liners plying between Europe and South America. She has been built by Anoaldo and Co., Sestre Poneute (Genoa) j her displacement is 17,000 tons, longtli 660 ft.- and speed 20 knots. A. sister vessel, the Guilio Cesare, will''bo completed in the near future in the yards of Swan, Hunter, and Wigham, Ltd., Wallsend-on-Tyne. The scheme of furnishing, decoration and fitting has been carried out with a view to combining highly artistic effect, which the Italian influence- has not failed to produce, with a maximum of efficiency, comfort, and convenience. Whether it is the restaurant, ordinary cabins, private suites, ballroom, concert hall, library, writing rooms, gymnasium, bathrooms, system of ventilation, telephones, lifts, or other items- of general internal equipment, the designing and construction have in all respects been carried out in the most ingenious and up-to-date manner; indeed, the term "floating hotel" could not be more aptly applied to any oceangoing liner. , ,-, SUSRBY SOLD. .; '' ■:. .'" She will probably get away for Dunedinon Tuesday. , The ICamo arrived from Greymouth last j evening with a load of timber and coal. After discharging a portion at the city wharves the vessel will proceed to Jliramar Wharf to complete. It is expected to dispatch her, for Greymouth on Tuesday. The John is expected from the south to-morrow morning. She will leave in the evening for Wanganui. ' Messrs. Hatrick and Co.'s Tainui is expected from Waitara to-day. The teseet was to have arrived yesterday, but was barbound at Waitara. ■■•• ■ • From the south the Canterbury Shipping Company's Breeze is to be here on Sunday. She will proceed on to Wanganui on Monday. Leaving Bluff on Saturday, the Calm will proceed to Wellington, via Dunedin, Oaraaru, Timaru, and Lyttelton. She is expected here, on Thursday,. and will leave for Wanganui the same day. The Victoria, which is arriving to-mor-row from Sydney, via Auckland and East Coast ports, is bringing some'3Bo tons of cargo for Wellington, including 1200 cases of Island fruit. ■•'
Continuing ■ her journey from Now York, the Barber liner Uganda was to leave Newcastle last night for Wellington. ' She should thus arrive here next Wednesday. Tho vessel, which is of 4257 tons, and is commanded by Captain Gow, left New York for Australia and Now Zealand on January 6.
