AN INQUEST.

Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, Coroner, held an inquest at the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon into the circumstances connected with the death of Henry M'Lauglilin, a boilermnkor's labourer, who died suddenly on board the steamer Arawa on Wednesday morning. Doceased was a widower, -16 years of ago, and, at the time of his death, was employed by Messrs. Cable and Co. on hoard tho steamer. Senior-Sergeant Emorson represented the polico at tho inquest, Mr. T. Neave nnponrins for Cable and Co., and Mr. T. J. O'Regon for the relatives of tho deceased. According to the evidence of a fellow worker, M'Laughlin had complained of feeling ill beforo starting work on Wednesday. Dr. Gilmer, who inado a postmortem examination of tho body, stated that the immediate cause of death was rupturo of aneurism of the aorta. A verdict was returned accordingly. KNOCKED DOWN BY A TRAM. Charles Bevin, a member of tho 11th Reinforcements, was knocked down bv atramcar near Lambtnn Station last night about 8 o'clock.
