. At the last meeting of the Wellington District Institute the greater part of the. time was\taken up with the consideration. of. "Remits to the annual meeting of the N.Z.E.I. The chief interest centred round the remits dealing with tho proposed changes, m the constitution., . The most .■important change proposed is tlio establishment 01 independent- institutes in .suitabje. geographical areas, even/though this may result in several institute*.ill'one educational district. After somo discussion the meeting declared itself' in favour of the proposed change. . The subject of the. ab&lition of the Junior National Scholarships was once more brought-up for discussipn when Mr. W. Foster, moved: "That this district institute-:again.affirms its opinion ath'at it is in the',best interests of education Hn ;seliopls^ : that Junior National Scholarships, so _ far as they affect such schoolß, should be abolished and the money ' so saved should be-spent in assisting in tho secondary education of deserving pupils. This waß carried unanimously. »
