ANZAC DAY.

ANOTHER SUGGESTION.

Sir,—May I throw out a suggestion that in perpetual memory of Sunday, April 25, 1915, the date of the landing of our troops at Gallipoli, the 2oth day, of April in each year should be dedicated as "Anzac Day" by the people of Australia aud Now Zealand, to tha heroic dead who lio buried there in at present unknown, untended graves, and that a collection like the Hospital Sunday collection should be made annually, oi that day throughout the Commonwealth and the Dominion, until, a sum was obtained, tho interest oil which! would be sufficient when the' war waß over, and satisfactory arrangements could_ be made, to be devoted to the marking, preservation, and upkeep of the graves of those who fell in the first landing at Gaba Tepe, in the awesome shadow of the Valley of Death, the glorious ridge of the Lonesome Pine, or i elsewhere on the blood-stained Bhores of Gallipoli ? _ Little difficulty should be experienced in obtaining from thosa, nearest and dearest to them, whether relatives or .friends, and all true admir< ers, such, contributions to the collections as their means would allow. The initial expenditure, would, of course,' bo heavy, but common and united action towards the end in view would be far, cheaper and simpler than any individual effort, _and if annual subscriptions were promised by those who could afford them, and an annual collection was made from those whose means would not allow of a definite promise, a sufficient sum should soon be available to mark, preserve, and beautify, the last, resting places of "the boys" from the land of the Southern Cross' who offered up their lives so willingly and heroically for their King and court< try.—l am, etc..
