PULVERISED OOAL FUEL. An experiment of exceptional interest Is about, to be mode by tho Pacific Coast Steamship Company at Seattle, in spraying into the furnace of a tug in place of using small coal for fuel and shovelling it in It is not alouo a matter of saving labour that is involved, but when pulverised coal i's burnt the maximum amount of heat is generated, so that thero is little or no trouble with clinker and ashes, and then more steam can be raised from a given amount of coal. The coal will bo blown in with an air .jet much ns tho oil is blown into the funviccs 'of oil-burning steamers. ; If the test proves succtssfiii there will ,bo many instances where coal dust burners will probably displace oil burners at sea. for at the present pricc3 coal is a cheaper fuel than oil, even though the ordinary complement of liremen mas =to be em>ploycd.-"Shipping List.
