A VALUABLE DISCOVERY
MOLYBDENITE' AT TAKAKA.
Mr.. Chaffey arrived in "Wellington from tlie back country at Takaka about three weeks ago, with a- bagful of mineral specimcus, the variety and valuo of which have interested many .people in Wellington. He placed his specimens before the Government, chiefly, owing to his discovery of molybdeuito ore, the acid of which is in the liveliest demand for steel-toughening purposes at the present time. The samples were handed over to the Government Analyst (Mr.. J. Maclaurin), whose essay of the sample submitted testifies to the ore containing 50 per cent, molybdenum trioxide, which is a good deal better result than tho most- sanguine of those interested expected. As proof of the Government's belief in the value of Mr. Chaffey's prospecting work, it has decided to pay him ss. in the £ towards expenses incurred during the past year. Mr. Chaffey is calling a meeting of those interested on Thursday evening next.
