Jiere until Wednesday, VICTORIA LEAVES SYDNEY. The Victoria left Sydney at noon on Thuredaj for- Auckland direct. She has on board 76 passengers and some. 1600 tons of cargo for discharge at Auckland. She should arrive at the northern port on Monday night, and is scheduled to leave I via ports for Wellington the following day, Friday is her duo date here. WIJIMERA FROM HOBAHT. The Wimmero, which left Hobart for Wellington at 1 o'clock on Thursday last, is due here on Monday morning. She is bringing 50 passengers, and has some 690 tons of cargo to discharge here before leaving for the south on Tuesday evening. SOMERSET AT WHANGAREI. The P. and 6. liner Somerset from Liverpool, via Cape Town and Australian ports, arrived at. Wliangarei at 11 o'clock yesterday morning. She will commence Homeward loading there, and will come on to Wellington-, via ivay ports, about - the end of the month. THE CELTIC GLEN. The ship Celtic Glen, which is bound from Sharpness to Lyttelton with a cargo of Ealt, is now about four months and a half out from tho English port, having taken her departure on November 9, and should now ue showing up at Lyttelton at any time, states the Christchurch "Press." So far, she has not been reportsd by any other vessel, but this need not occasion auy anxiety. The Celtic Glen is described as a useful type of ship for carrying freight, but ie not noted for any exceptional sailing Qualities. Bho lias a gross tonnage of 1859 tons, and is commanded by Captain Henry. INSURANCE ON SHIPS. The Glasgow "Herald" says that a number of British shipbuilders are in favour of laying before the Government the qucetion of insuring in part at least the losses sustained by private firms on contracts which havo been delayed by the war, and by the action of tho authorities in diverting labour from mercantile to warship work. Many contracts booked by British yards beforo the war aro not yet completed—in many cases tho vessels are not.j'et launched-and aa wages and prices of materials have increased greatly since the orders wero placed, constructional costs are now much higher than any of tho builders anticipated when they undertook tho work. Mr. M'ilitirray, formerly third engineer ol the Maori, lias been granted a commission as Engineei'-lieuteuant ill the Royal Navy. Messrs. G. .Maxwell, chief engineer, anil ■ T. Jones, second officer oT'th'o Nikau, who received severe burns as the result of an explosion on tho Nikau recently, aro reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Mr. Maxwell is still conflued to Nelson Hospital, but Mr. Jones has been able to ledvo that institution.

The American schooner A. B. Johnston, ■which has been . discharging . timber at Clyde Quay Wharf for some time past, left the wharf yesterday morning for the stream. She was to havo departed yesterday for Papeete, but was still at anchor in the stream last night. ,
Tho Shaw-Savill liner Arawa is expected to arrive aobut 3 o'clock this afternoon from Gisborne. She will discharge local cargo here, and is to leave about the middle of next week for Lyttelton.
The Wcstralia i 6 M leave Napier just after daybreak this morning for Gisborne. She is taking 200 troops for tho latter port, and will leave there for Auckland this, evening.
Owing to a special trip to Gisborne the Eipplo will not leave that port for Wellington until Monday morning. She is duo here on Tuesday night, and will leave for Napier and Gieborne again on Wednesday evening, returning again on Sunday as usual. ( ■ Tho Koutunui should arrive to-day from Napier. Sho will not get away for East Coast ports until . Monday. After the East Coast trip tho vessel will return to Wellington, and will proceed to Terakohe to load cement; for TJapier.
The Tarawera left Napier last evening' for Wellington and is expected in dHout noon to-day. She will discharge 250 tons of cargo here, and will proceed to Dunedin drect at 5 o'clock this evening.
The Karu was expected to leave"' Greymouth last night, timber-laden for Wellington. She should be here on Sunday night.
The Breezo is expected from Wanganui on Monday morning. She will leave for the south the same day.
The Canterbury Shipping Company's Calm Is cxpected back from Wauipamii about iTaTch 29, and will it is expected proceed south the samo day.
Tho Ngakuta, was expected to leave Greyinoutli about midnight last night -with.a tult load of coal ior Kepler. .
With a load of timber for Miramar the Wootton left Nydia Bay last night.
With a further load of stone for the new Parliamentary Building tho auxiliary 6Cow Magic is expected at Wellington on Sunday or Monday from Sandy Bay. The local agents have received a telegram *to the effect that the stone is ready to ship, so there should be no delay in loading tho vessel this trip.
On arrival from Puponga to-day tie Waverley will go aoroes to Bona Bey;to dischargo her coal.
