4 NEW ZEALAND ENGINEER'S PKI- ' VATE OPINION OF THE STUDE. BAKER. TlTe Tourist Motor Co., Hastings, knowing that we are closely interested in Studebaker motors, have forwarded to us a copy of a lengthy business letter sent them by Mr. Allan H. M'Lcan, the en. gineer of their firm, who is at present in Detroit,- investigating tho claims of the 1916 models of tho great American auto, mobile manufacturers. The Tourist Motor Co. havo very courteously given ua permission to publish extracts from the letter, and we extract the following paragraph as likely to interest owners and prospective owners of Studebaker cars:— "My honest opinion about tho Studebaker car is that it is tho best value for money on the American market, and as far As linis'li and workmanship are concerned it is second to none. I consider that we would be foolish to take np the agency for any higher priced car that iB built here, because if we repaint the Stud©Daker and equip it with wire wheels it would bo equal to the Minerva in appear, ance and quietnesß of running. The en. cine is the cleanest designed one that I have inspected." It may be explained that Mr. M'Lean'a mission to America was to secure tlie agency of a high-priced American car to take tho place of the firm's Silent Knight Minerva agency. There is a good market in Uawke's Bay for the very best car obtainable, regardless of price. Mr. M'Lean's honest opinion regarding tho Studebaker is that tnera is no American car on the market better than tho Studebaker at any price. Tho five-seater touring Studebaker (i-cylinder, 25 li.p.), with electric self-stsrter and eleoIrio lights, sells in New Zealand for the three-seator Studebaker, with same equipment, being priccd at ,£335. Agents—Tourist Motor Co., Hastings: Auckland Motor'Co, Auckland; Newton King, Stratford and New Plymouth; Tombs and Co., Hamilton, we are onon to receive aier.ts for tho Wellington territory.
